| Artist Statement: “I am always surprised by my finished product as I don’t begin with a plan other to release my inhibitions and let my spirit run free on the canvas. Using thick acrylic paints, I begin by squeezing color from tube to canvas, blending life into the background, using various tools to create pleasing effects. Often, my backgrounds are mistaken for fabric. My paintings illustrate my attraction to color and texture, and are a reflection of pure engery inspired in the moment. I’m one of those people who would love nothing more than to get up real close to a Van Gogh or a Picasso and see the brush strokes and touch the painting – if only I wouldn’t get kicked out of the museum!” |
