Artist Statement : Cathy Johansen is a New England artist living in Westerly, Rhode Island who has worked with a variety of mediums since 1973, beginning with oils on canvas and eventually discovering the challenges of watercolors.  Cathy is widely recognized for her use of soothing colors and creating inviting impressions in a variety of subjects.  In particular, her life portraits, porches, interior settings and seaside landscapes give a feeling of warmth and familiarity.
