Located in the heart of Newport’s bustling downtown waterfront, the Aquidneck Island Arts Festival offers an exciting marketplace of fine and functional art. This juried show features select art in a broad range of categories including pottery, woodworking, painting, photography, fiber arts, glasswork, jewelry and much more.
A unique blend of art, food and entertainment make the festival a delight for the senses. Highlights include live music from Celtic to jazz, children’s activities to spark young imaginations and a café with delicious food from area restaurants.
To add to the charm, live “art in action” events – such as a woodworking demonstration, a fashion show and tips for aesthetic presentation of food – help to show the technical skills behind production or accentuate the pleasures of each art medium.
All proceeds from the festival benefit Looking Upwards, a Middletown-based nonprofit agency, in its mission of supporting people with disabilities to live fulfilling lives.
